Workshop17 is seeking a dynamic and experienced National IT Manager to lead our IT operations across multiple locations in the Cape Town, Johannesburg and KZN regions. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role requires excellent communication abilities and a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of network security and performance.

Team leadership

  • Motivate and manage a team of Tier 1 support personnel, both face-to-face and remotely.

  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

  • Report performance metrics and significant issues to the C-Suite.

  • Contribute positively to the management team, collaborating on strategic initiatives.

Service and vendor management

  • Assess and monitor the performance of service providers, including ISPs and SD-WAN providers.

  • Help design, procure, and manage AV infrastructure for effective Teams and Google Meet meetings.

  • Oversee hybrid event technology, including web-streaming for local and remote participation.

  • Maintain an accurate asset register.

  • Manage the IT budget, including subscriptions and connectivity costs for various SaaS products.

  • Assist with selecting, maintaining, and training on the software stack, including in-house ERP and third-party SaaS products.

Network Management

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise-grade WAN and LAN networks.

  • Ensure robust network security protocols are in place.

  • Deliver high-quality WiFi experiences through excellent site design, implementation, and ongoing management.

Technical expertise

  • Maintain a solid working knowledge of Ubiquiti/Unifi stack, including UDM, switching, and WiFi 6 APs.

  • Manage print services, with experience in Papercut as a plus.

  • Support Linux OS for basic DevOps tasks, server maintenance, dockers, and VMs.

  • Quickly troubleshoot WAN and LAN issues, implementing monitoring and diagnostic systems to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proactive Approach: Ability to anticipate and address IT issues proactively.

  • Documentation: Strong skills in knowledge management and documentation.

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of network technologies and security.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.

  • Budget Management: Experience in managing IT budgets.

  • Educational Background: Relevant degree or certifications in IT or related fields preferred.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 5 - 10 Years of experience in IT Management.

  • Basic French is beneficial.

  • Experience with Ubiquiti/Unifi stack.

  • Papercut print management experience.

  • Familiarity with hybrid event technology and web streaming.

  • Understanding of Linux OS for basic DevOps and server management.

  • Experience with ticketing systems and support processes.
