We understand how frustrating continued power cuts are, not only does it affect your productivity levels, but it also has a big impact on the economic health of your business. We get it, with almost half of Eskom’s electricity generation currently offline, your virtual meetings are leaving you in the dark, and way behind on your work schedule.

With Workshop17’s list of Loadshedding survival tactics, we can get you plugged in and connected to the business as usual with a push of a button. Our backup power systems provide a stable internet environment that allows for sustained productivity and maximum output.

We’re on a journey to deliver responsible power to all our locations. Our plan is to power up solar panels on hybrid inverters and battery backup - simply put, during load shedding, our power source will use solar energy first, and then, only use our diesel backup.

Our current load-shedding backup plans vary from location to location but always ensure that you are connected to a stable network and can stay on that call.

Surviving Load Shedding Level 6

Workshop17 The Bank

Baseload power on Gas with failover on Eskom. The entire building is serviced by a 500Kva battery system. This means all circuits are on UPS, so no interruption at all. The Bank also has solar panels on the roof making a green contribution.

Workshop17 Firestation

The diesel genset covers all power requirements except the HVAC. We have inverters on all networking and audio-visual equipment. This means there is no interruption of service on any of this equipment.

Workshop17 West Street

The diesel genset covers all power requirements including HVAC. We have inverters on all networking and audio-visual equipment. This means there is no interruption of service on any of this equipment.

Workshop17 Watershed

The diesel genset covers all power requirements except HVAC. We have inverters on all networking and audio-visual equipment. This means there is no interruption of service on this equipment. The Watershed building is covered with Solar, wall to wall doing its bit for green energy

Workshop17 Tabakhuis

Tabakhuis has commissioned its new generation inverter and a 100kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery installation. This installation augments the existing 82kW rooftop solar PV installation to ensure that the Workshop-17 coworking tenants are not impacted by the ongoing load shedding problems plaguing the country. How can you help?

Have you remembered to turn off your air con?

Did you know that HVAC systems use the most energy of any single appliance or system in the workspace? As a workspace community, members can contribute massively to the collective pull on our energy resources. Most offices have access to individual HVAC control panels, and, by simply limiting your HVAC use to only when necessary and turning it off when leaving the office or meeting room, members can contribute to a considerable reduction in the energy load.
